Supporters Demand Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who breached a fence and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though court documents showed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed features videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the same location last year.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised event staff at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, earning several for best costume and set decoration.
