R360 League Recruits Face 10-Season Ban from NRL

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck gained 20 international appearances for the All Blacks before transferring representation to the Samoan team.

The NRL's governing body has announced that participants who join the “counterfeit” R360 league will be prohibited for 10 years.

The new league, which plans to launch in late 2026, is aiming to attract players from union and league with lucrative deals and a condensed playing schedule.

Top National Rugby League athletes have allegedly been contacted by R360, which will involve six or eight men's teams and four women's sides based in key urban centers worldwide.

The Samoan the rugby star, who plays for the Warriors in the competition, has said he has had negotiations involving the breakaway league.

Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also believed to be weighing up offers from R360.

Several leading rugby union teams, including Australia, recently declared a prohibition on R360 recruits appearing in test matches.

“We have consulted our franchises and we've responded strongly,” stated Australian Rugby League Commission chairman the official.

“Sadly, there will persistently exist organizations that try to exploit our code for potential financial gain.

“They don't invest in development systems or the advancement of athletes. They merely capitalize on the hard work of others, jeopardizing careers of monetary damage while gaining personally.

“In truth, they represent, counterfeiting a code.”

The league is established by retired international Tindall and backed by private investors.

After the prospective rugby union bans were revealed last week, it commented: “We want to work together as integrated into the international rugby schedule.

“The series is arranged with customized calendars for male and female sides and the organization will permit participants for international matches, as included in their agreements.”

R360 will seek approval for its initiatives from World Rugby, rugby union's regulatory group, at its official gathering in the coming year.
