Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
