Stateside performer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per news outlets.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several hit series, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
